Heinrich Jaeger, the William J. Friedman and Alicia Townsend Friedman Professor in Physics, James Franck Institute, and the College, explains the benefits of studying the unusual. Jaeger is one of this year's winners of the Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring, which the University of Chicago has presented annually since 1986.
